annegeluna's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- no self-rescues unless absolutely necessary I didn't get a chance to write over the weekend because we spent all day Saturday shopping for clothing, hiking boots and the like for Alaska and we spent all day Sunday in a kayaking class at Jack London Square. The shopping was exhausting but we got good deals by going to three different stores to compare products and prices. The kayaking class was awesome! We are so ready to kayak in Alaska now. I'm glad we took it because we learned the paddle strokes and the proper paddling technique, along with a self-rescue (extremely difficult and not very much fun) and a "T" rescue (much easier as you are assisted by your partner who is still in his or her kayak). We also had to capsize in order to practice the rescues which is something I was nervous about but now that I've done it and learned how to get out of the boat, I feel much better. Sooo, we'll be kayaking in Alaska soon. Tomorrow we leave for Pasadena for the weekend which should be fun.
